Mobile Paint Correction  ·  Fairfax, VA

Paint Correction Properly.

Most cars come from the factory with paint that's already swirled, hazed, or lightly scratched — and every drive-through wash makes it worse. Paint correction is a machine-polishing process that removes a microscopic layer of clear-coat to permanently eliminate swirls, oxidation, water-spot etching, and light scratches. Done right, it doesn't just shine — it restores depth and clarity that you can't get from any wax or sealant. We bring the full kit to your driveway: dual-action and rotary polishers, a graduated pad and compound system, paint-thickness gauge, and proper lighting to verify the finish before sealing.

Paint Correction

Two stages. Pick your level of recovery.

Paint correction is the deep recovery step that restores depth and clarity to weathered or swirled paint. Both packages are fully machine-polished by hand, mobile-applied. Choose 1-step for daily-driver maintenance, or 2-step for true showroom mirror finish.

What paint correction actually does.

Our Process

How a correction goes down.

01

Pre-Wash & Decontamination

Two-bucket hand-wash, iron-fallout treatment, and full clay-bar pass to clear bonded contaminants before polishing.

02

Paint Inspection

Walk-around with bright LED inspection light. Note swirls, scratches, water-spot etching, and oxidation. Paint-thickness gauge readings on each panel to set safe correction limits.

03

Test Spot & Compound Selection

Single test panel to confirm the right pad/compound combo for your specific paint. Different colors, ages, and clear-coat hardness all need different approaches.

04

Machine Polishing

1-step (single-stage cut + polish) or 2-step (separate cut + finish stages). Cross-hatched passes per panel, IPA wipe between stages to verify true correction.

05

Sealant & Hand-Off

Premium long-life sealant applied to lock in the correction. Tire dressing, trim restoration, and a final inspection before we leave.

What's Included

What's in every correction package.

Pre-Wash Decontamination

Hand-wash, wheels, tires, glass. Iron-fallout treatment to lift brake dust and rail dust out of clear-coat.

Clay-Bar Treatment

Full body pass to clear embedded contaminants — sap, overspray, industrial fallout — before polishing starts.

Paint-Thickness Reading

Digital paint-thickness gauge measures clear-coat depth on each panel before correction. Tells us exactly how much we can safely remove.

Machine Polishing

Dual-action and rotary machines as appropriate. Premium pads and compounds. Cross-hatched panel-by-panel work.

IPA Inspection

Mid-process and final solvent wipe-downs to verify the correction is real (not just polishing oils filling the swirls temporarily).

Long-Life Sealant

Premium synthetic sealant locks in the correction and protects the freshly-polished paint for 4–6 months.

Trim Restoration

Plastic trim, rubber, and exterior detail dressing — black trim back to factory black, no faded plastic.

Glass & Wheel Cleaning

Windshield and side glass cleaned and treated. Wheels deep-cleaned and dressed.

Built For Mid-Atlantic

Why Fairfax paint needs correction.

Most paint damage in Northern Virginia is gradual: drive-through washes leave thousands of micro-scratches; sun and pollen oxidize the clear-coat; sprinkler spots etch into it during summer. By the time most owners notice, the paint looks dull and tired. Correction is the only way to actually fix it — wax just hides it. After correction, a sealant or ceramic coating keeps the recovered finish lasting.

FAQ

Real questions, honest answers.

Everything most people ask about paint correction, in plain English. More FAQs.

1-step is a single-stage machine polish — removes 60–70% of swirls and light defects. Best for newer cars or daily drivers. 2-step is a separate compound (cut) and polish (finish) stage — removes 85–95% of defects including deeper scratches, severe oxidation, and water-spot etching. 2-step produces true showroom mirror finish.
The correction itself is permanent — once swirls are removed, they stay removed unless you re-introduce them with bad washing technique. We seal the corrected paint with a premium sealant that lasts 4–6 months. To extend the result indefinitely, pair correction with a ceramic coating (we offer that as a complete package — see Ceramic Coating).
It depends on depth. Light surface scratches and swirls — yes. Deeper scratches that have penetrated the clear-coat — partially. If you can feel the scratch with a fingernail, it's into the clear-coat or color and won't fully come out without paint repair. We measure paint thickness before correction so we never go too deep, even if it means leaving the deepest scratches partially visible.
1-Step: 6–8 hours depending on vehicle size and condition. 2-Step: 8–11 hours. Most customers leave the car in the morning and pick up at end of day.
Yes — when done by someone who knows what they're doing. We use a paint-thickness gauge before and during correction to make sure we never remove too much clear-coat. We also do a test spot before committing to the full car so we get the right compound/pad combo for your specific paint.
Even brand-new cars come with swirls and holograms from factory and dealer prep. A 1-step on a new car cleans up that factory inconsistency and resets the paint to true showroom condition. For older cars with weathered paint, 2-step often makes the car look 5–10 years younger.
Absolutely — and it's the best time to do it. The whole point of correcting paint is to get it perfect before sealing it. We offer ceramic packages that include the correction step, but if you've already booked correction, we can add ceramic at the same appointment for a discount over booking separately.
Shade or shelter strongly preferred for the polishing stage (3–5 hours of the appointment). Direct sun makes correction harder because the compound flashes too fast. Garage is ideal. Covered driveway, carport, or pop-up canopy works.
Rare, but happens — usually on cars with extremely thin clear-coat from previous repaints, or paint that's already corrected too many times. We measure thickness before starting, and if we determine it's not safe to correct, we'll tell you and refund the deposit. We won't damage your paint to make a sale.
Modern factory clear-coats can typically handle 2–3 lifetime corrections (less for repainted panels). 1-step removes very little material and can be done more often. 2-step is more aggressive and is best treated as a long-term reset, not an annual service.
Light water spots that haven't etched into clear-coat — yes, completely. Etched spots that have eaten into the clear — partially or fully depending on depth. We assess during inspection and tell you upfront what to expect.
Yes — we offer Headlight Restoration as a separate add-on (different process, similar machine-polishing technique). Add it at booking.
Cash, all major credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, and Zelle. For 2-step correction we collect a 20% deposit at booking. Balance is due on completion.
Yes. If you spot a defect we missed within 48 hours of completion, we come back and fix it free. Note: we'll only correct what we said we'd correct upfront — deeper damage outside scope is identified during inspection and won't be magically fixed by the appointment.
If active rain is forecast, we reschedule with no penalty. The polishing stage requires dry paint and dry surroundings to keep dust off the freshly-corrected panels.
